Research Fellows (Past and Current)


Dr. Shancheng Wang (since July 2021)
Shancheng Wang obtained his PhD in 2021 from Nanyang Technological University(NTU), Singapore.He won the MSE Technopreneur Award in 2021. His research specializes in functional vanadium oxides for thermochromic smart coatings.

Dr. Hebing Hu (since March 2018)
Hebing Hu obtained his PhD degree from University of Strasbourg (France) under the guidance of Prof. Gero Decher (2015). His research interests include Layer-by-Layer assembly, alignment of 1D-nanoobjects, functional devices based on 1D-nanoobjects and thermochromic smart windows.

Dr. Meiying Leng (since July 2022)
Meiying Leng obtained her PHD degree from Huazhong Univeristy of Science and Technology, China(2019). And then she work as a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University with Prof. Xiong Qihua(2019-2021) and Prof. Sun Handong(2021-2022).Her previous research specialized in optoelectronic materials(mainly based on perovskite nanomaterials) and device fabrications.

Dr. Yun Meng (2020.01-2022.01)
Yun Meng obtained his Phd degree from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Science. During his PhD’s studies he mainly focused on reconfigurable switch and device applications of chalcogenide material. His recent research interest is on the development of vanadium oxides for functional applications.

Dr. Yujie Ke (2019.5-2021.9)
Yujie Ke obtained his Master degree from University at Buffalo, the State University of New York(2015), US and obtained his PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University(2019), Singapore under supervision of Dr. Long Yi. He won the Ian Fergoson fellowship in MSE 2019. His research interest includes stimulus-responsive materials and structures, plasmonic materials, optical and mechanical metamaterials, mechano-/thermo- chromism, micro-/nanoscale fabrication and related applications.

Dr. Peng Hu received his Ph.D. (under the guidance of Professor Christian Kloc) in materials science at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2016. Then, he is a research fellow (worked with Prof. Christian Kloc (2016-2017) and Dr. Long Yi (2017-2018) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is currently a professor in the School of Physics at Northwest University, China. Dr. Peng Hu was selected into the Academic Talent Program of Northwest University in 2019 and Youth Thousand Project of Shaanxi Province in 2020. Dr. Yongsheng Yang received his Ph.D. (under the guidance of Professor TeckPeng Loh) in Chemistry & Biological Chemisty at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2012. He is a research fellow under Dr. Long Yi (2015-2016) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is currently a professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Wuhan Textile University, China. Dr. Yongsheng Yang was selected into the “Chu Tian Scholars Program” of Hubei Province in 2017 and the “Hundred Talents Program” of Hubei Province in 2018. Dr. Hui Jiang
Hui Jiang received his Ph.D. degree in materials science, and his research interests focus on single-crystal electronics, including single-crystal growth of semiconductors, structure-property relationship, and single-crystal optoelectronic devices.He is a research fellow with Dr. Long from 2018 to 2020.

PhD Students

Yuting Dong obtained her Bachelor of Engineering (Honor) degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2019. She was awarded the Gold Medal by the Materials Research Society of Singapore during her undergraduate study. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in Nanyang Technological University. Her research interest includes smart windows and stimulus-responsive materials.

Keunhyuk Ryu obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2019 and Master of Engineering degree in 2021, respectively, from Dankook University, Republic of Korea. He was awarded the Bumjeong Academic Paper Grand Prize from Dankook University and Changseong Talent Award from the Korean Powder Metallurgy Institute during his master's degree. And he was awarded Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) in 2022. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in Nanyang Technological University.


Dan Li was graduated from Beihang University. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Nanyang Technological University joined Augst 2018, and was co supervised by Dr. Long. Her research interest focus is thermo-responsive smart windows. She has received a job offter from huawei, China.


Visiting Scholars

Na Li is a visiting student(2019.4-2020.4) of Dr. Long’s team in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is a Ph.D. from Northeast Petroleum University. Her current research is focused on expanding the application of functional nanomaterials combing with polymers by designing new structures.

Hualin Ding is a visiting scholar(2019.10-2020.10) at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Institute of  Solid State Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013 and  is an assistant professor at Department of  Physics, Hangzhou Dianzi University. His research interests includes rational design of sophisticated core/shell and mesoporous nanostructures for catalysis, energy conversion and storage applications.

Xin Zhou is a visiting student (2019.10-2020.10) of  Dr. Long’s team in the School of  Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Ph.D. from University of  Electronic Science and Technology of China. His research interest includes Vanadium Oxides, Memristor, Sensors.

Gang Li is currently a visiting student(Since Apr. 2021) of Dr. Long’s team in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Ph.D. in Wuhan University of Technology, China. His research interest includes photonic crystals and their-based coloration camouflage composite Materials, Smart Hydrogel and Metal Nanomaterials.

Jiwei Chen is currently a visiting student (Since Oct. 2021) of Dr. Long’s team in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Ph.D. from Jiangnan University, China. His recent research interest is on the functional applications of physical crosslinked hydrogels.

Zhiyuan Bai is a visiting student (Since Jan. 2022) of Dr. Long’s team in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Ph.D. at Donghua University, China. His research interest includes functional micro-nano particles and their applications in smart windows and flexible displays.

Huaxu Liang is a visiting student (Since May. 2022) of Dr. Long’s team in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Ph.D. in Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His research interest includes Micro-nano structure photothermal regulation.

PhD 2022. His research specializes in nanostructured functional materials, focused on thermochromic materials for smart window applications and solar energy control.

Dr.Vu Tuan Duc Alvis

PhD 2022.His research interest includes the fabrication of high-quality vanadium dioxide (VO2) using High-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) and strategies to improve VO2-based device performance through nanostructuring.
